Bow and Stern Thrusters for Inverlussa's Fifth Nauplius-Built Aquaculture Vessel
We are pleased to contribute to the construction of a new 25m x 10.6m hybrid aquaculture service vessel for Inverlussa Marine Services, supplying the bow and stern thrusters for this landmark new build. The vessel marks the fifth time Nauplius Workboats has developed a vessel for the Mull-based aquaculture operator.
Precision Manoeuvring for Aquaculture Service Operations
Aquaculture service vessels operate in demanding coastal and inshore environments, where precise manoeuvring is critical to safe and efficient work at fish farm sites, exposed moorings and small harbours. Our bow and stern thruster systems provide Inverlussa's new vessel with reliable lateral control and improved positioning capability, supporting the close-quarters work that defines aquaculture operations along the Scottish coast.
The 25m vessel is equipped with battery-hybrid propulsion and IMO Tier III-compliant main engines, delivering improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared with earlier generations of aquaculture support vessels. Our thrusters are integrated within this hybrid architecture, contributing to a system that balances operational performance with environmental responsibility.
Part of a Significant Hybrid Fleet Expansion
The new build forms part of a major fleet investment by Inverlussa Marine Services, which has signed contracts for three new hybrid-power vessels across three different shipyards. Once all vessels are delivered in summer 2027, Inverlussa's fleet will have grown to 25 vessels, reflecting the continued growth and ambition of Scotland's aquaculture industry.
Being selected as a supplier on one of these three contracts reflects the confidence that Nauplius Workboats and Inverlussa place in Current Motion's solutions. The vessel is being built with a strong group of specialist partners, including Macduff Ship Design, Blokland Non-Ferro for propulsion, De Flux for accommodation outfitting, SupTech for hull construction support, Couperus Hydrauliek for hydraulic systems, and Zeppelin supplying Caterpillar main engines.
A Continued Relationship with Nauplius Workboats
Current Motion has a long-standing working relationship with Nauplius Workboats, built through multiple successful deliveries. Our thruster systems have contributed to the handling capability of the vessels, and we are proud to continue that role in the latest addition to Inverlussa's fleet.
We look forward to working closely with Nauplius Workboats and the wider project team throughout the build programme, delivering another vessel that supports the growth and sustainability of Scotland's aquaculture industry.
