Open Propeller
An open propeller is best when the vessel's speed is above 10 to 13 knots (18 to 24 km/h). The vessel speed determines the optimum propeller diameter. When the vessel speed is rather high, the propeller diameter will be smaller than when the vessel speed is lower.

performance
Current Motion thrusters are designed to be able to use a rather big propeller diameter to have a maximum efficiency when the vessel speed is low. Due to the electric drive and the selection of the gear ratio’s, Current Motion offer the possibility to use the thruster at maximum load also with a smaller propeller, since the drive line is designed in a way that the thruster can be used within the propellers most efficient range, with a smaller or bigger diameter.
To have a low sound level Current Motion will use a pulling propeller (tractor) to be able to have a optimum wake field in front of the propeller. This means the propeller can be designed for maximum efficiency without being forced to modify the blade design to deal with a bad wakefield in front of the propeller.
Product features
360-Degree rotational capability
Azimuth thrusters can rotate 360 degrees, making vessels highly maneuverable for docking and positioning tasks.
Compact design
Azimuth thrusters are compact and space-efficient, making them ideal for installation on various vessels, including cruise ships, tankers, and transport boats. Despite their small size, they offer powerful propulsion and steering capabilities.
High Thrust-to-Power ratio
Azimuth thrusters provide efficient propulsion for vessels of different sizes and conditions with superior performance in speed, maneuverability, and bollard pull across various marine applications.
Customizable configuration options
Azimuth thrusters are customizable to suit vessel requirements with variations in diameter, power rating, and integration with auxiliary propulsion or dynamic positioning systems.
Advanced control systems
Azimuth thrusters can be connected to advanced control systems for precise manoeuvring. These systems include joystick control, dynamic positioning, autopilot integration, and remote operation. Using these technologies, operators can optimize vessel maneuverability, safety, and efficiency in complex navigational scenarios.
