Electric Propulsion Catamaran with Azimuth Thrusters for Luxury Floating Beach Club on the Costa Brava

A new 26-meter luxury catamaran is currently under construction, designed by MP Yachts Barcelona, a renowned yacht design studio specializing in custom yacht design and innovative leisure vessels. This exclusive party boat and floating beach club is being developed for the 5-star Hotel Alibriga in Sant Feliu de Guixols, located on the Costa Brava near Girona, Spain, a premium destination for luxury tourism and yachting in the Mediterranean.

Rather than a traditional pleasure yacht, the vessel is conceived as a floating beach club and luxury event platform, a unique hospitality yacht concept that brings the five-star hotel experience onto the water. The catamaran will function as a mobile leisure platform and floating venue, offering guests an exclusive setting for private yacht events, luxury celebrations, corporate gatherings and high-end entertainment at sea.

Designed for Experience and Luxury Hospitality

MP Yachts Barcelona is internationally recognized for its contemporary yacht design, bespoke yacht concepts and experience-driven marine architecture. This 26-meter catamaran design reflects that philosophy, combining spacious outdoor decks, social lounge areas and a flexible event layout. The vessel blurs the line between luxury yacht, floating beach club and hospitality platform, aligning with a growing global trend in luxury hospitality and experiential tourism: creating memorable lifestyle experiences on the water.

The design prioritizes guest comfort, panoramic sea views and premium onboard experience, making the catamaran ideal for coastal cruising, private charters and exclusive resort-based yacht experiences along the Costa Brava and wider Mediterranean coastline.

Propulsion and Control by Current Motion

The vessel will be powered by two 125 kW electric azimuth thrusters supplied by Current Motion, the specialist in marine electric propulsion systems and azimuth thruster technology. The scope includes the complete azimuth thruster system with integrated control system, ensuring efficient, quiet and sustainable propulsion for luxury hospitality vessels and leisure craft.

This advanced propulsion configuration provides:

  • Excellent maneuverability for tight marinas and coastal operation
  • Precise low-speed handling for docking and guest transfer
  • Safe, smooth and comfortable operations close to shore

These features are essential for a luxury catamaran operating in marinas, resort areas and near beaches, where safety, comfort, low noise levels and precise vessel control are critical to the guest experience. The use of electric propulsion technology also supports the growing demand for more sustainable and environmentally friendly yacht solutions in the superyacht and luxury leisure market.

A New Dimension of Luxury Hospitality on the Costa Brava

This project highlights how modern yacht design is converging with luxury hospitality and experiential tourism. Floating venues such as this 26-meter floating beach catamaran allow five-star hotels and luxury resorts to extend their brand experience beyond land, offering guests a distinctive way to enjoy the Mediterranean coastline, Costa Brava bays and scenic anchorages.

Whether used for private yacht charters, sunset cruises, VIP hotel experiences or exclusive floating beach events, the vessel represents a new category of hospitality-driven leisure yachts.

With the design expertise of MP Yachts Barcelona and the electric azimuth propulsion technology of Current Motion, Hotel Alibriga is setting the stage for a new generation of floating luxury experiences on the Costa Brava, reinforcing its position as a leading destination for luxury travel, premium hospitality and maritime lifestyle experiences.
